At 828 metres, the Burj Khalifa remains the world’s tallest building by a significant margin. A visit to the observation decks is one of the few Dubai experiences that is genuinely difficult to replicate elsewhere — the scale of the city visible from Level 124 or 148 gives a different perspective on the geography of the Gulf coast.
Observation Deck Options
At the Top — Level 124 and 125 (Outdoor Terrace)
The standard observation deck experience. Level 124 is an enclosed deck with floor-to-ceiling glass and a 360-degree view. Level 125 provides access to an outdoor terrace — one of the highest outdoor terraces on Earth.
Tickets: Approximately AED 149 for off-peak slots, AED 219 for peak (sunset and evening) as of 2026. Children under 4 are free; children 4–12 are discounted.
Booking: Online booking on the official Burj Khalifa website is cheaper than walk-up tickets and guarantees your time slot. Walk-up tickets, if available, cost more and depend on capacity.
At the Top SKY — Level 148
The highest publicly accessible point in the building, Level 148 SKY offers a more exclusive experience: a butler-hosted visit, a dedicated lounge with beverages, and a less crowded deck.
Tickets: Approximately AED 272 for off-peak, AED 369 for peak slots as of 2026. Includes a hosted experience and refreshments.
Worth it? The SKY experience is significantly quieter than the standard deck and the views are marginally higher. For those visiting once and willing to pay the premium, the atmosphere is appreciably different. For families or groups, the standard Level 124 is the practical choice.
At.mosphere Restaurant — Level 122
Dining in the Burj Khalifa is a separate booking from the observation decks. At.mosphere on Level 122 is a full-service restaurant with panoramic windows.
Prices: Breakfast from approximately AED 250 per person, lunch from AED 350, dinner from AED 500 as of 2026. Afternoon tea is available from approximately AED 300 per person.
Booking tip: A dining reservation at At.mosphere technically counts as an observation deck visit — the view from Level 122 is comparable to Level 124. Confirm the current policy when booking, as this can vary. Book via the official Burj Khalifa website or directly by phone.
Opening Hours
The At the Top observation decks are open daily from approximately 09:00 to 23:00. Last entry is typically one hour before closing. At.mosphere restaurant opens for breakfast from 08:00.
Hours can vary during UAE public holidays and special events — confirm on the official website before visiting.
Getting There
By Metro: Dubai Metro Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. The station connects directly to Dubai Mall via an air-conditioned walkway — allow 15–20 minutes from the exit to the Burj Khalifa entrance inside the mall.
By car: Dubai Mall has multiple entry points. Parking is free for the first 4 hours with a validated ticket from participating retailers, then approximately AED 10 per additional hour. The Lower Ground Level parking closest to the Burj Khalifa entrance is P3.
By taxi: Taxis from Downtown Dubai cost approximately AED 15–25. The drop-off point is Dubai Mall’s main entrance.
Avoiding Crowds
The Burj Khalifa is one of Dubai’s most visited attractions, and peak times (Friday and Saturday evenings, public holidays) see significant queues even with pre-booked tickets.
Best times:
- Weekday mornings (09:00–11:00): Smallest crowds, clearest skies.
- Non-sunset weekday afternoons (12:00–15:00): Reasonably quiet. Haze can affect visibility in summer.
- Avoid: Friday and Saturday evenings, any public holiday, and the 30 minutes before and after sunset on any day.
Pre-booking a specific time slot essentially eliminates the ticket queue — the Burj Khalifa operates a timed entry system. Arrive 10 minutes before your slot.
What to Expect Inside
After ticket scanning on the Lower Ground floor of Dubai Mall, you take a high-speed lift to Level 124 — the lift ascends in approximately 60 seconds. The observation deck has interactive screens showing city facts and a 360-degree walkway. Binoculars are available.
Photography is unrestricted. The glass is generally clean; polarising filters reduce glare. Early morning light (facing east toward the Hajar Mountains) is best for photography.
The visit takes 30–60 minutes for most visitors. You can combine with Dubai Mall — the Fashion Avenue, Dubai Aquarium, and Dubai Fountain (evening show free, viewable from the waterfront) are all within the same complex.
Nearby Attractions
Dubai Fountain: The world’s largest choreographed fountain, at the base of the Burj Khalifa. Shows run every 30 minutes from 18:00 daily (from 13:00 on Fridays and weekends). Free to watch from the waterfront promenade.
Dubai Mall: Over 1,300 retail units, an ice rink, the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo (tickets approximately AED 120 as of 2026), and multiple dining floors. Allow additional time if visiting more than the Burj Khalifa itself.
