March sits at the tail end of the UAE’s ideal travel window. Temperatures are warm but manageable, outdoor activities are still fully on the table, and the city buzzes with cultural events centred on the art world. By late March, daytime temperatures start to exceed 32°C and you can feel the summer approaching — but for most of the month, conditions are excellent.

March can occasionally see brief dust haze in the afternoons (shamal winds from the north), which reduces visibility but doesn’t significantly affect most activities. Rain is rare — average monthly rainfall in Dubai in March is under 10mm.

What’s On in March

Art Dubai — the UAE’s flagship international art fair, typically held at Madinat Jumeirah over four to five days in mid-to-late March. It draws galleries from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, alongside a curated programme of talks, tours, and satellite events across the city. Tickets for the fair typically cost approximately AED 100–150 for a day pass. If you are interested in contemporary and modern art from global perspectives, this is genuinely worthwhile.

World Art Dubai — held at Dubai World Trade Centre, usually in the same week as Art Dubai. This fair targets collectors and art buyers at more accessible price points (works starting from a few thousand dirhams). Entry is typically free for the public during certain hours.

Dubai Tennis Championships (late-stage matches) — if the ATP event extends into early March (dates vary by year), finals rounds may run into the first week of the month.

Ramadan note: Ramadan dates shift approximately 11 days earlier each year. In some years, Ramadan falls partially in March. Check the UAE calendar for 2026 Islamic month dates. If Ramadan does occur in March, expect restaurants to be closed during daylight hours, a quieter public atmosphere, and significantly reduced nightlife — but also a genuinely interesting cultural experience if you approach it respectfully.

Where to Go in March

Dubai’s cultural quarter — the Alserkal Avenue arts district in Al Quoz hosts galleries, studio spaces, and pop-up events throughout March. Entry to most gallery spaces is free. Combine this with a visit to the nearby Dubai Design District (d3) for an afternoon walking between creative businesses, cafés, and exhibitions.

Hatta — the mountain enclave of Dubai is best visited before temperatures rise. A 1.5-hour drive from central Dubai, Hatta offers Hatta Dam (kayak hire from approximately AED 60/hour), the Hatta Heritage Village (free entry), mountain biking trails, and the Hatta Wadi Hub for outdoor activities. An increasingly popular day trip.

Musandam Peninsula (Oman) — technically in Oman but accessible by day trip from Dubai (roughly 2.5 hours by road through Ras Al Khaimah. The fjord landscape of Musandam is one of the most visually striking areas in the Arabian Peninsula, and March’s temperatures make the dhow cruise experience comfortable. A day trip including a traditional dhow cruise and snorkelling typically costs approximately AED 200–350 per person from tour operators in Dubai.

Getting Around

March is still peak or near-peak season. Taxis and ride-hailing via Careem remain the easiest option for on-demand travel. The Dubai Metro runs reliably; the Red Line connects the airport, Deira, Downtown, and Dubai Marina, while the Green Line serves Old Dubai and Al Fahidi.

Inter-emirate buses run from Dubai’s Al Ghubaiba station to Sharjah, Ajman, and Al Ain. Fares are low (AED 10–20), but services are slower than taxis and not always convenient for tourists.

Hotels in March

Prices begin to ease marginally compared to January and February, though March is still busy. Mid-March during Art Dubai sees hotels in the Jumeirah/Umm Suqeim area particularly in demand.

Hotel picks:

  • Vida Creek Harbour (Dubai): modern design hotel near the Dubai Creek Tower area; from approximately AED 500–700 per night.
  • Al Maha Desert Resort (Dubai desert conservation reserve): a splurge, but a legitimate UAE experience — private pool suites, oryx wandering outside; rates from approximately AED 2,500+ per night all-inclusive.
  • Staybridge Suites Abu Dhabi: apartment-style; good value for longer stays or families; from approximately AED 350–500 per night.

Restaurants to Try

  • 3 Fils (Jumeirah Fishing Harbour, Dubai): small, casual, very popular — Asian-influenced small plates; from approximately AED 80–150 per person. Queues at peak times; arrive early.
  • Mythos Kouzina (Dubai Marina): well-regarded Greek restaurant; reliable for a non-Middle Eastern evening; approximately AED 120–180 per person.
  • Nusr-Et (multiple Dubai locations): the original Salt Bae restaurant; theatrical but the steak quality is genuine; expect approximately AED 400–700 per person.

What to Pack for March

Daytime temperatures reaching 30–32°C mean lighter clothing than February. Short sleeves are comfortable during the day. Evenings remain pleasant (18–20°C) without needing more than a light layer. Sunscreen SPF50+ is still essential. If attending Art Dubai, smart-casual is appropriate attire. Beach attire is suitable at hotel pools and designated beaches.

March offers the cultural richness of the art season and the last reliably comfortable outdoor conditions before summer arrives. It is an excellent month to visit — particularly if art, design, or outdoor activities like hiking or mountain biking are on your agenda.
