Things to do here

The top-rated tours and activities here: all with instant confirmation and free cancellation on most bookings.

Palm Jumeirah is the palm-shaped artificial island that pushes about 5 km into the Gulf off the Jumeirah coast. It is not a neighbourhood you wander. It is a resort island with a handful of headline attractions, a long public beach strip and some of the best hotel pools in the region. Visitors who treat it as a day or an overnight stay with a plan get far more out of it than those who simply arrive by taxi and hope. This guide covers what is worth your time, how to reach it, and where to stay at each budget.

The island has three parts. The trunk is the central spine, home to residential towers, shops and the monorail. The fronds are the villa-lined fingers branching from it. The crescent is the outer arc, where Atlantis sits at the top and many resort hotels line the beach.

Atlantis The Palm, Aquaventure and Lost Chambers

Atlantis is the island’s anchor attraction and the main reason most people come. The resort’s Aquaventure Waterpark is among the largest in the region, with record-setting slides, a river ride and a long private beach. Lost Chambers, the resort’s aquarium, is the quieter, indoor alternative for a hot afternoon or a younger family group.

We cover tickets, queue strategy and which rides to prioritise in our Atlantis Aquaventure and Lost Chambers guide, including the Klook booking option that sits on that page. As a rule, go on a weekday morning and book a timed entry ahead. If you are not staying at the resort, a GetYourGuide Dubai tours search is a useful comparison for combined tickets.

The View at The Palm

The View at The Palm is an observation deck high in the Palm Tower on the trunk, giving a view back across the island fronds and out to the Dubai skyline. Tickets are time-slot based. Standard daytime admission starts at roughly AED 100 for adults as of 2026, sunset slots cost noticeably more, and the Level 54 Next Level experience is priced higher again. Sources disagree on closing times, so check the official booking page for the day you want. We suggest a late-afternoon slot so you see the island in daylight and the lights coming on.

Palm Monorail

The Palm Monorail runs from Gateway station near the island’s base up the trunk to Atlantis Aquaventure, with intermediate stops. A full ride takes roughly nine minutes. It is more about the view and the novelty than efficiency, and it is useful mainly if you are going to Atlantis. Service was suspended for maintenance from December 2025 and reported as resumed in mid-2026, and published fares differ between sources, from around AED 10 one way to AED 20 one way. Treat any fare as indicative and check on arrival. If it is not running, a taxi from the base to Atlantis is the fallback.

Palm Jumeirah Mall and Palm West Beach

The mall on the trunk, long known as Nakheel Mall and now marketed as Palm Jumeirah Mall, is a convenient stop with dining options and a link to the monorail. It is not a destination mall like Dubai Mall, so see our Dubai Mall guide if shopping is the point.

Palm West Beach, on the western side of the crescent, is a long strip of free public sand beside a promenade of restaurants and cafes, with views across to the Marina skyline. It is a good option for sunset and for people who want a beach without paying a resort entry fee. Sunbed rental and paid beach club sections sit alongside the free area. Club Vista Mare and beach club day passes

Club Vista Mare is a waterfront dining and beach complex on the trunk, with several venues including The Tap House and Canary Beach. Reported pricing as of 2026: sunbeds at The Tap House are free on weekdays and around AED 100 per person at weekends, while Canary Beach charges approximately AED 150 on weekdays and AED 250 on Friday to Sunday, redeemable against food and drink. These figures come from venue listings and change often, so verify before you go.

Across the island, day-pass pricing generally follows the same pattern: roughly AED 100-250 per person, higher at weekends, mostly redeemable on food and drink. Arrive early on Fridays and Saturdays, when the better clubs reach capacity.

Where to Stay on Palm Jumeirah by Budget

Palm hotels are resort-priced, and genuinely cheap rooms are rare here. All names below are properties we found listed on Booking.com for Palm Jumeirah. Rates vary heavily by season, so we show bands only.

Luxury: Atlantis The Palm is the family flagship, and Atlantis The Royal on the same island targets adults with a more design-led feel. One&Only The Palm is a small, quiet beach resort for couples. Our Dubai luxury hotels guide compares them in detail.

Upscale: Sofitel Dubai The Palm, Fairmont The Palm and FIVE Palm Jumeirah sit in the upper-mid band. FIVE has the liveliest, most social scene.

Mid-range: Radisson Beach Resort Palm Jumeirah and Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah offer four- and five-star beach access at lower typical rates. Rixos The Palm is an all-inclusive option that often prices well in summer.

Budget: There is little real budget accommodation on the Palm. If cost matters, stay at Dubai Marina or JLT and visit for the day. Our where to stay in Dubai guide and Dubai Marina guide cover those alternatives.

How to Get to Palm Jumeirah

Tram and monorail: Take the Dubai Metro Red Line to a station linked with the Dubai Tram, ride the tram to Palm Jumeirah station, and use the footbridge to the monorail’s Gateway station. The Dubai Metro guide explains the Nol card system, and the Roads and Transport Authority publishes current network information at rta.ae.

Taxi or ride-hailing: The simplest option. A ride from Dubai Marina to the trunk is usually AED 25-45, and to Atlantis it is higher, as of 2026. See our getting around Dubai guide for all options.

Car: The island has plenty of paid and hotel parking, but traffic into the Palm builds on weekend afternoons. Official visitor information is at visitdubai.com.

Suggested Day Plan

Start with Aquaventure from opening, take lunch at a trunk restaurant, spend mid-afternoon at a beach club, then head up The View for sunset. For a longer stay, spend the second day at Palm West Beach and dinner on the crescent. Browse tours in Dubai if you want to bundle entry tickets into a guided day. Frequently Asked Questions

Is Palm Jumeirah worth visiting?
Yes, if you pick one or two anchors. Aquaventure, The View at The Palm and a beach day cover most of what the island offers. It is a resort island, not a walkable neighbourhood, so plan around transport.
How do I get to Palm Jumeirah without a car?
Take the Dubai Metro Red Line to a station linked to the Dubai Tram, ride the tram to Palm Jumeirah station, then walk the footbridge to the monorail's Gateway station. A taxi from Dubai Marina typically costs AED 25-45 as of 2026.
Is the Palm Monorail running?
The line was suspended for maintenance from December 2025 and reports say it resumed in mid-2026. Fares are reported differently by different sources, so confirm status and price on the day before you plan around it.
How much is The View at The Palm?
Standard daytime tickets start at roughly AED 100 for adults as of 2026, with sunset slots and the Level 54 Next Level experience costing more. Prices are slot-based, so check at checkout.
Can non-guests use beach clubs on the Palm?
Yes. Most clubs sell day passes, usually redeemable against food and drink, with weekends costing more than weekdays. Expect roughly AED 100-250 per person as of 2026.
Where should families stay on Palm Jumeirah?
Atlantis The Palm is the usual family choice because guests get Aquaventure access and the resort has several pools and a private beach. Check current inclusions when booking.
