Where to Stay in the UAE

The UAE's hotel market spans the full spectrum — from basic Deira guesthouses to the Burj Al Arab. Dubai alone has over 140,000 hotel rooms, making it one of the most competitive hotel markets in the world. That competition means genuine value is available across most categories if you book ahead and avoid school holiday peaks.

Abu Dhabi tends to offer better value than Dubai for comparable quality. Sharjah, directly adjacent to Dubai, is the most affordable emirate for accommodation and is connected by metro. We have detailed where-to-stay guides for every covered city.

Types of Accommodation in the UAE

Five-Star Resorts & Luxury Hotels

Dubai and Abu Dhabi lead the Gulf for luxury accommodation. Rates range from approximately AED 800 to AED 10,000+ per night as of 2026 at the top end — properties like the Burj Al Arab or Jumeirah Al Naseem operate at the extreme premium end. Most international five-star brands (Mandarin Oriental, Raffles, Four Seasons) have flagship UAE properties.

Mid-Range City Hotels

Strong value options exist in Dubai's Deira and Bur Dubai districts, and in central Abu Dhabi. Rates for clean, well-located mid-range hotels typically run AED 250–600 per night. Business hotels around DIFC and Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai offer corporate-grade facilities at mid-range prices outside peak season.

Desert Camps & Eco Lodges

Overnight desert camps near Dubai and Al Ain offer a different experience — Bedouin-style tents, camel riding, and stargazing in the dunes. Quality ranges from basic tourist operations to genuinely well-run luxury glamping. Expect AED 300–900 per person per night including dinner and activities as of 2026.

Budget Stays & Guesthouses

Budget accommodation in the UAE is more limited than other destinations. Deira in Dubai and downtown Sharjah have the best concentration of affordable guesthouses and budget hotels. Rates start around AED 100–200 per night. Sharjah is notably cheaper than Dubai and is 20 minutes away by metro or taxi.
