Ras Al Khaimah’s accommodation landscape has transformed over the past decade. What was once a handful of basic city hotels is now a collection of genuinely impressive beachfront resorts, an eco-desert lodge, and an expanding range of options across all price points. The emirate is frequently cited as the best-value beach destination accessible from Dubai.

Al Marjan Island Resorts

Al Marjan is the main resort island — four connected artificial islands extending 4.5 km into the Arabian Gulf. The beachfront hotel density here is the highest in the emirate.

DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island (Mid-range, from AED 520/night): The most consistently booked mid-range resort on the island. Long private beach, good pool facilities, multiple restaurants. A reliable and enjoyable choice without stretching the budget significantly.

Rixos Bab Al Bahr (Upscale all-inclusive, from AED 700/night): An all-inclusive resort — the format works well here given the beach and pool focus. Food quality is better than typical all-inclusive properties. The beach is long and well-maintained. Mangrove by Rhodes is the standalone à la carte restaurant.

Movenpick Resort Al Marjan Island (Mid-range, from AED 480/night): A Swiss-managed resort with good food, a large pool complex, and a pleasant beachfront. Particularly strong for families.

Wynn Al Marjan Island (opening 2027, from AED 1,200+/night projected): The UAE’s first casino resort. Pre-opening interest is high — worth tracking the development if planning a visit after the opening date.

Al Hamra Area

Al Hamra, the village-style development south of Al Marjan, has a different feel — less concentrated and with more space between properties.

Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah (Luxury, from AED 900/night): The Waldorf sits at the northern end of a long private beach. The service is reliably at the Waldorf standard. The ZAFRAN restaurant serves good contemporary Indian food. Multiple pools and a spa.

Anantara Al Hamra Beach Resort (Upscale, from AED 500/night): A well-positioned resort within the Al Hamra village development, with direct beach access and the mature landscaping that comes with an established property. The spa and pool facilities are good, and the range of room types suits both couples and families.

InterContinental Mina Al Arab (Mid-range to upscale, from AED 400/night): Set within the Mina Al Arab development — a low-density residential and resort zone with mangrove-lined waterways. The property has a quieter, more resort-like feel than the busier Al Marjan Island hotels. Good for those who want beach access without the full all-inclusive resort atmosphere.

Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach (Luxury, from AED 950/night): On the seafront near the Al Hamra Fort Hotel ruins. A smaller, quieter property than the more active Al Marjan resorts. The beach is wild and open rather than manicured.

Desert and Mountain

Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert (Luxury, from AED 1,400/night): The most exceptional accommodation in RAK — a private nature reserve with 60 villa-style rooms, nature walks, falconry, archery, and horse-riding. The villas have outdoor pools and the desert landscape is genuinely stunning. A proper wilderness escape 30 minutes from the coast.

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort (Oman — near RAK border): Not strictly RAK but accessible from it, at 2,000 metres elevation in Oman’s Green Mountain. Cliff-edge infinity pool, dramatic canyon views. From approximately AED 1,800/night.

City Hotels (Budget and Practical)

City Seasons Hotel RAK (Budget, from AED 260/night): A practical base in RAK city for those prioritising access to the old city, museum, and dhow yards rather than beach resort life.

RAK Hotel (Budget, from AED 240/night): Near the Creek and the old town with walking access to the corniche. Basic facilities but clean and convenient.

Hilton Ras Al Khaimah City (Budget to mid-range, from AED 300/night): The city-centre Hilton property sits in RAK’s main commercial district, useful for those who want a recognised brand without the beach resort premium. A short drive or taxi ride to the nearest beaches.

Hilton RAK Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort (Mid-range, from AED 550/night): Good central beach location in the Khuzam area, convenient for both the city and Al Marjan.

Booking Notes

  • New Year’s Eve is the most expensive single date in RAK — the emirate hosts one of the world’s largest fireworks displays. Book several months ahead and expect premium rates.
  • The Grand Prix weekend in November (Abu Dhabi, 90 minutes away) also drives up RAK resort rates as a quieter alternative to Abu Dhabi accommodation.
  • Summer rates (June–August) drop sharply — often 40–50% below peak prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are RAK hotels cheaper than Dubai hotels?
Generally yes — comparable properties in Ras Al Khaimah typically cost 25–40% less than equivalent Dubai hotels. A mid-range beachfront resort that would be AED 900/night in Dubai often runs AED 550–700 in RAK.
Which RAK hotel is best for adventure activities?
The Ritz-Carlton Al Wadi Desert (inland) is best for desert adventures. For Jebel Jais access, any of the Al Marjan Island or Al Hamra hotels work well as a base — the mountain is 45–60 minutes by car.
Is there a casino in Ras Al Khaimah?
The Wynn Al Marjan Island resort and casino (the UAE's first licensed casino) is expected to open in 2027. Pre-opening reservations may already be available — check directly with the property.
