Christmas in Dubai 2026: 24°C Weather, Hotel Brunches & Prices

Elegantly decorated Christmas tree with gold and white ornaments in a luxury hotel lobby, festive season Dubai UAE

Dubai keeps Christmas in a way that surprises most first-time visitors, and the weather helps: 22-26°C days, a 24°C sea and clear skies on December 25. This is a Muslim-majority country where December 25 is an ordinary working day - and yet the festive season here is genuinely elaborate. Major hotels begin decorating in late November, shopping malls install giant Christmas trees and indoor snow, Global Village runs Christmas-themed programming, and the hotel brunch calendar fills months ahead of the date. If you have always assumed that Christmas abroad means a quiet day and nowhere to go, Dubai is the correction.

Christmas in a Muslim Country - How It Works

The UAE is an Islamic country and Christmas has no official status. There are no public holidays, no school closures, and the Friday-Saturday weekend means December 25 falls on a working day for most Emirati residents. But Dubai’s population is approximately 90% expatriate, drawn from South Asia, the Philippines, Western Europe, North America, and everywhere else - and a large proportion of that expat community celebrates Christmas.

The hospitality sector reads this perfectly. Five-star hotels, beach clubs, malls, and restaurants go as heavily into Christmas as anything you would find in London or New York. The decorations start in late November. By mid-December, Dubai Mall has its giant Christmas tree installed, the ice rink at the mall runs festive programming, and Madinat Jumeirah’s outdoor market is in full swing. Alcohol is served freely in licensed venues (hotels, licensed restaurants, and beach clubs), so Christmas lunch with wine is not a problem. The main difference from a Western Christmas is that you will be eating lunch in shorts, possibly before an afternoon at the beach.

Hotel Christmas Brunches

The Christmas Day brunch is Dubai’s version of the traditional family roast - and it is on a different scale entirely. Hotels across the city compete on extravagance, and the best ones book out in October. Here is what to expect:

Atlantis The Palm consistently runs one of the most celebrated Christmas brunches. Multiple restaurants at the property (Kaleidoscope, Nobu, Ronda Locatelli) operate simultaneously, with guests able to move between them. Prices typically run from approximately AED 700–1,200 per person including soft beverages, higher for inclusive alcohol packages.

Burj Al Arab Christmas brunch is among the city’s most expensive and most theatrical, with courses served in the sail hotel’s signature settings. Expect approximately AED 1,200–1,500 per person for the premium package.

Four Seasons DIFC and JBR both run elegant Christmas brunches in the AED 600–900 range. The DIFC property is better for those staying Downtown; JBR for those on the Marina side.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Jumeirah Al Naseem offer Christmas brunches with Burj Al Arab views across the bay - usually the best setting for the price, typically AED 500–750 per person with options for alcohol packages.

If you want a Christmas brunch at any hotel rated above four stars, email or call directly in October. The most popular slots - typically the noon seating on December 25 - are gone before many visitors have even booked flights.

Dubai Mall at Christmas

Dubai Mall installs one of the most photographed Christmas trees in the region - typically 15+ metres tall, positioned near the main Grand Atrium entrance. The ice rink at Dubai Mall (open year-round) gets festive dressing and runs extended hours through December. Entry to the rink is approximately AED 100 per person including skate hire.

From late November, pop-up Christmas markets and artisan stalls appear in sections of the mall. These are genuinely good for gifts: UAE-made perfumes and oud blends, handmade silver jewellery, and Arabic sweets make for interesting alternatives to the usual global retail chains. The mall’s general retail sales are also tied to the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), which typically launches in late December - so Christmas week arrivals can catch the opening days of mall-wide discounts.

Global Village - Christmas and New Year Programming

Global Village runs its full seasonal programme through December, with Christmas and New Year additions layered on top of the standard 90-country pavilion format. Admission is approximately AED 25 for adults. The Christmas programming typically includes dedicated entertainment stages with carol performances, special light installations, and themed food stalls. The nightly fireworks displays (Friday and Saturday) take on added significance in December, and the New Year countdown show at Global Village is one of the larger free celebrations in the city.

December evenings at Global Village are some of the best of the year: temperatures around 20–22°C, the crowds are festive rather than oppressive, and the food range is exceptional. Arrive by 17:30 to secure parking easily; if coming by taxi or Careem, drop-off is straightforward.

Madinat Jumeirah Christmas Market

The Madinat Jumeirah Christmas market is Dubai’s most atmospheric festive experience. The market sets up in the outdoor souk areas of the Madinat - a canal-threaded, Arabian-architecture complex adjacent to the Burj Al Arab. German-style wooden stalls sell mulled wine, crafts, and seasonal food; the setting of traditional wind-tower buildings and flowing waterways creates a genuinely unusual backdrop for Christmas shopping.

The market typically runs from late November through January, evening hours from approximately 16:00 to 22:00. Entry is free. Mulled wine from the stalls costs approximately AED 45–65. On clear evenings you can see the Burj Al Arab lit from the market boardwalk - a combination you will not find anywhere else.

Family Activities at Christmas

Ski Dubai (Mall of the Emirates) is the obvious novelty: a fully enclosed indoor ski slope with real snow, operating at -4°C regardless of outside temperature. In December, Ski Dubai runs festive theming with Santa appearances, and the penguins in the Snow Penguin Encounter area are reliably popular with children. Entry for skiing starts from approximately AED 250 for two hours including equipment; the Snow Park (tobogganing, snow slides) from approximately AED 170.

IMG Worlds of Adventure is the city’s largest indoor theme park, with Marvel, Cartoon Network, and IMG Boulevard zones. It operates extended hours through December and adds special holiday theming. Day tickets from approximately AED 345 for adults, AED 285 for children.

Dubai Parks and Resorts (Motiongate, Bollywood Parks, Legoland) runs extended December hours and festive programming. The Legoland zone is particularly well-suited to families with younger children; a combination ticket covering two parks runs from approximately AED 295 per person.

Festive afternoon teas operate at the Shangri-La Downtown, Waldorf Astoria DIFC, and several other five-star properties - typically AED 250–400 per person for a two-hour Christmas-themed spread. Santa meet-and-greet sessions are common at Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, and most large family malls through December.

Beach Christmas

Spending Christmas Day on a Dubai beach is entirely viable and deeply enjoyable. JBR Beach (Jumeirah Beach Residence) and Kite Beach are both free public beaches with facilities - showers, cafés, and equipment hire. Kite Beach has a particularly lively December atmosphere, with outdoor gyms, casual food trucks, and view of the Burj Al Arab on the horizon.

Water sports are in full operation in December. Jet ski hire from approximately AED 200 for 30 minutes, kayaking from AED 60 per hour, and paddleboarding is calm on most December mornings with low winds. The sea temperature in Dubai in December sits around 23°C - warm enough for swimming without hesitation.

Some beachfront restaurants and beach clubs (Sunset Mall beach area, JBR beach bars) run outdoor barbecue setups on Christmas Day afternoon. Reservations are not generally required for these, though they fill by noon.

Where to Stay in Christmas Week

Rates jump sharply from about 20 December. As of 2026, approximately figures for a double room in Christmas week run as follows: Rove Downtown from AED 600-900, Jumeirah Beach Hotel from AED 2,200-3,500, Atlantis The Palm from AED 2,500-4,500 and Address Downtown from AED 2,500-4,500, while Burj Al Arab suites start far higher. These are typically 2-4 times non-peak rates, and the best rooms sell out by September or October. Compare hotels in Dubai early, and consider a stay in Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah if prices are steep.

Christmas Dinner Beyond the Brunch

Brunch is the headline, but many hotel restaurants also run set Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners, with turkey and festive menus typically from approximately AED 350-800 per person as of 2026. Atlantis’ Nobu and Ronda Locatelli, Madinat Jumeirah restaurants and the Dubai Marina hotel dining rooms are the usual starting points; confirm menus and prices directly, since festive offers are announced in the autumn and change each year. If you prefer a casual option, many beach restaurants at JBR serve roast dinners on 25 December.

Flight Price Windows

Flights are the biggest Christmas cost. As of 2026, non-stop return fares from London to Dubai have typically run from approximately GBP 550-700 outside peak weeks, with connecting itineraries often well under GBP 400. Expect fares to climb noticeably for departures between 18 and 24 December; we could not confirm a firm Christmas 2026 figure, so check live prices for your dates. The cheapest windows are usually departures in the first week of December and returns after 3 January. Booking 3-4 months ahead usually beats last-minute fares; track them on Aviasales. Flight time from London is approximately 7 hours.

December Weather

DaytimeEveningConditions
Dubai22–26°C15–18°CClear, sunny, very low humidity
Abu Dhabi22–26°C14–17°CClear, pleasant breeze

December sees near-zero rainfall across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Occasional brief showers are possible in the northern emirates but clear within hours. The lack of humidity means the daytime warmth feels comfortable rather than oppressive. Pack light clothing for days, a genuine light jacket or thin sweater for evenings - particularly for restaurants where AC continues to be aggressive. Sunscreen is still needed during outdoor daytime activities.

Christmas in Dubai works because the city’s hospitality infrastructure is built around making every occasion feel significant. The festive season here runs from late November through New Year’s Eve and into January, which means arriving for Christmas gives you access to the most concentrated run of events in the UAE calendar. Book brunches and hotel rooms early - peak December is the one time of year when planning ahead genuinely changes the quality of the trip.
