Etihad Airways has launched the first-ever nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg, creating a direct link between the UAE and the grand duchy for the first time. The service began on 21 October 2026, operating from Luxembourg’s Findel Airport to Zayed International Airport four times a week.

Flights depart Luxembourg in the morning at around 09:30 and arrive in Abu Dhabi at approximately 19:00 local time. The return service leaves Abu Dhabi in the early hours and arrives back in Luxembourg the same morning. Etihad operates the route using the Airbus A321LR, a narrow-body jet configured for long-haul efficiency, with business and economy cabin options.

No other airline currently offers a nonstop service between Luxembourg and any UAE airport. Previously, travelers from Luxembourg had to connect through hubs such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam or London to reach Abu Dhabi, adding several hours to the journey each way.

What this means for travelers

For visitors flying from Luxembourg, Belgium or the wider Benelux region, this route removes the need for a connection when heading to Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is well placed as a starting point for exploring the UAE: the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Yas Island’s theme parks and the Eastern Mangroves are all within easy reach of Zayed International Airport.

The route also benefits UAE residents looking for a direct option to Luxembourg. The grand duchy sits within easy driving or rail distance of Brussels, Trier, Metz and Strasbourg, making it a practical entry point for the wider region.

Etihad’s winter schedule from Abu Dhabi now includes more than 70 destinations worldwide. The carrier has been steadily expanding since resuming full operations, and the Luxembourg launch adds to a run of new European routes announced for late 2026 and 2027.

Planning your trip

Before booking, check whether you need a visa or entry permit for the UAE. Many nationalities receive a visa on arrival or qualify for visa-free entry, but conditions vary depending on passport and residency status. Our UAE visa guide covers current requirements by nationality.

If Abu Dhabi is your arrival airport, the Zayed International Airport guide covers transit options, terminal layout and transport into the city centre. The airport handles both Etihad and several other carriers, and Abu Dhabi’s metro and taxi network connects it to most parts of the capital.

Etihad tickets for the Abu Dhabi-Luxembourg route are bookable directly through the airline’s website. Fares and availability for the November and December schedules are open now.
