Several more international carriers have confirmed extended suspensions of UAE services, with new dates stretching well past the end of October and in one case into early 2027. The UAE has also separately suspended Iranian airline operations from its airports.

Which Airlines Have Extended

Singapore Airlines, KLM, ITA Airways, Swiss International Air Lines, and Eurowings have each extended their UAE suspensions through October 24, 2026. Air Canada has gone significantly further, pushing its Dubai and Abu Dhabi suspension to mid-January 2027 - making it the longest announced break from UAE routes by a major carrier.

Air France, which suspended Dubai services in mid-September, is operating under a separate October 13 resumption date announced last week.

Emirates cancelled five services on September 25, while Dubai International Airport logged 43 outright cancellations and over 700 delays across that same day, with Etihad at Abu Dhabi reporting similar strain.

UAE Suspends Iranian Carrier Flights

On September 24, the UAE Civil Aviation Authority suspended all Iranian airline operations in UAE airspace and at UAE airports. The directive affects Iranian carriers operating routes between Dubai or Abu Dhabi and cities in Iran, adding a further dimension to the disruption picture beyond Western airline withdrawals.

Practical Steps for Affected Passengers

If your flight has been cancelled or suspended, contact your carrier directly. Travellers holding bookings on EU-based carriers departing from EU airports are covered under Regulation EC 261/2004, which entitles passengers to rerouting or a full refund when flights are cancelled.

Review your policy terms with your insurer - trip curtailment and additional accommodation costs arising from flight disruption are typically claimable. Our UAE travel insurance guide covers the main policy types worth checking before travel.

For the latest operational status at Dubai International, see the airport’s live departures board; for Abu Dhabi, see our Zayed International Airport guide. Before booking onward connections, check our flights to Dubai guide for which carriers remain active.

What This Means for the Coming Weeks

With suspensions now extending through late October and beyond, passengers travelling to Dubai or Abu Dhabi should assume their original routing may still be under review even if their airline has not yet issued a specific advisory. Build flexibility into itineraries where possible, and check our UAE safety advice for the latest US and UK government guidance on travel to the region.
