Abu Dhabi Corniche Restaurants: Waterfront Dining Guide

The Corniche is Abu Dhabi’s defining public space: an eight-kilometre waterfront promenade lined with manicured gardens, sandy beaches, and a succession of hotels that hold the city’s most accomplished dining rooms. The restaurants here benefit from Gulf views and generous budgets, but they are not all equal. Some are outstanding; others are coasting on location. This guide covers the ones worth your evening.

Most dining on the Corniche sits inside hotel properties. Standalone restaurants are rare on this stretch, and the ones that do exist tend to be casual beach cafes. If you want serious food with water views, you are going to be inside a hotel dining room. That is not a drawback: Abu Dhabi’s hotel restaurants are generally well run and take reservations, which matters during peak season from October to April.

Casual and Budget Dining (AED 60–120/person)

Captain’s Arms, Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi: The only credible pub-style option on the Corniche strip. The British-inflected menu covers burgers, fish and chips, and reasonable pub classics. It is noisy on Thursday and Friday evenings, quieter mid-week. Expect AED 80–120 per person with drinks. Useful if you want something low-key without dressing up.

The Terrace, Hilton Abu Dhabi: An outdoor restaurant on the hotel’s waterfront terrace, with a casual all-day menu covering mezze, grills, and sandwiches. The setting is the selling point: tables are right on the water, and the evening breeze off the Gulf makes this comfortable even in October and November. Around AED 80–120 per person. No reservations required for most of the year.

Prego’s, Beach Rotana: One of the better mid-range Italian options on the Corniche. The pizzas come from a proper wood-fired oven, the pasta is made fresh, and the lunch set menu offers good value at approximately AED 95 for two courses. Dinner runs AED 110–160 per person. The Beach Rotana sits directly on the Corniche walkway, so the location is convenient if you are already spending time near the beachside gardens.

Mid-Range (AED 120–250/person)

Fishmarket, InterContinental Abu Dhabi: The Corniche’s most distinctive dining concept. You select your fish, shellfish, or prawns from refrigerated market-style displays, choose how you want them cooked (grilled, fried, or in sauce), and pick your accompaniments separately. The pricing depends on your choices but expect AED 150–250 per person for a full meal. The concept works well: the InterContinental’s kitchen handles the cooking competently, and the freshness of the produce is consistently high. Book in advance for weekends.

Cho Gao, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi: A pan-Asian kitchen covering Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Japanese dishes across a large menu. The dim sum selection at lunch is the highlight, with live dim sum carts circulating the dining room. Dinner is better suited to sharing plates. Around AED 120–200 per person. The Crowne Plaza sits in the heart of the Corniche hotel district, and the restaurant draws a mixed crowd of hotel guests and local regulars.

Rodeo Grill, Beach Rotana: The Beach Rotana’s steakhouse occupies a comfortable room with views toward the Corniche gardens. The beef is well sourced and the kitchen handles different cuts consistently. A full dinner with a starter, steak, and side dishes runs approximately AED 200–320 per person. The wine list is broad by Abu Dhabi standards. Good for business dinners or celebrations that do not require the formality of Emirates Palace.

Fine Dining and Views (AED 300+/person)

Sayad, Emirates Palace: The Emirates Palace seafood restaurant is the most ambitious seafood dining room in Abu Dhabi. The menu focuses on Gulf produce: hammour (grouper), kingfish, shrimp, and lobster, prepared with a French technique and presented at the level you would expect from a flagship hotel. Expect AED 400–600 per person for a full dinner. The room itself is spectacular, with floor-to-ceiling views of the Palace gardens and Gulf beyond. Dress code is smart casual at minimum; reservation is essential.

Le Vendome Brasserie, Emirates Palace: A more accessible option within the Palace. The French brasserie format covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a menu that includes rotisserie chicken, onion soup, croque-monsieur, and a solid steak frites. This is the best way to experience the Emirates Palace dining room without the full fine dining outlay. Lunch from AED 180 per person, dinner approximately AED 250–350.

Bice Mare, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers: Italian seafood in the Etihad Towers hotel complex, with a terrace that overlooks the Gulf and the western Corniche. The menu is built around fresh fish and shellfish prepared with Italian simplicity: crudo, grilled branzino, tagliolini with seafood. Around AED 250–400 per person. The Etihad Towers location is at the far western end of the Corniche near the Emirates Palace, so it clusters naturally with a pre-dinner walk along the promenade.

Planning Your Visit

The Corniche restaurant strip runs from the Heritage Village and Breakwater in the east to the Emirates Palace in the west. If you are staying in Downtown Abu Dhabi, the InterContinental and Beach Rotana are walkable. The Etihad Towers and Emirates Palace are a short taxi ride from the main Corniche strip.

Reservations matter most from November to March. During the summer months (June to September), restaurants are quieter and some hotel dining rooms reduce their hours. Call ahead if you are visiting between June and August.

The Corniche beachside parks have a scattering of casual cafes and food trucks near the public beach areas, which are useful for a quick lunch. These change regularly so check what is currently open near Sections 2 and 4 of the Corniche public beach.
