New Year's Eve Burj Khalifa Fireworks 2026

Dubai’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display centred on the Burj Khalifa is one of the most-watched celebrations in the world, televised live globally and drawing hundreds of thousands of people into Downtown Dubai for the midnight countdown. The 2026/2027 countdown will be no exception.

The display launches from the Burj Khalifa itself — the world’s tallest building at 828 metres — as well as from surrounding structures around the Downtown Dubai area. In recent years the display has combined conventional fireworks with a choreographed LED light show built into the Burj Khalifa’s facade, making it effective from both close range and from vantage points several kilometres away.

Where to watch

The prime viewing area is the Burj Khalifa Lake and the Dubai Fountain promenade, directly in front of the tower. This area is free to access but fills rapidly — arriving by 20:00 or earlier is strongly recommended to secure a good position. The surrounding area around The Dubai Mall and along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard also offers clear sightlines.

The observation decks of the Burj Khalifa (At the Top) are a premium option. Tickets on New Year’s Eve sell out months in advance and are priced significantly higher than standard rates — check burjkhalifa.ae from October onwards for availability. Rooftop restaurants and hotel bars with views of the tower are another route, though these require reservations made weeks in advance.

Quieter and less crowded viewpoints include Souk Al Bahar’s rooftop area and various elevated restaurant terraces in the Downtown area. JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) runs its own waterfront fireworks display and is a viable alternative to the Downtown crush if you prefer a less packed environment.

Getting there and getting home

On New Year’s Eve, the Dubai Metro runs extended hours through the night — check the RTA website for the confirmed 2026 schedule. Expect trains to be very busy from around 22:00; arrive before the rush or plan to leave after 01:30 when crowds thin. Roads into Downtown Dubai are partially closed from the early evening; taxis and Careem will have surge pricing and will not be able to reach the immediate area around the Burj Khalifa. The Metro is by far the most reliable option: the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station (Red Line) puts you directly at the venue.

Practical tips

December 31 in Dubai is pleasantly cool at around 20–22°C in the evening — a light jacket is worth having. Alcohol is served in licensed hotel bars and restaurants; outdoor public areas are alcohol-free. The area around the Burj Khalifa is one of the most heavily policed locations in the city on this night, and behaviour standards are strictly enforced. Photography is unrestricted.
