Yas Marina Circuit will host the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix on 4-6 December 2026 as the season closer, bringing the year’s championship to its conclusion under the floodlights of one of motorsport’s most distinctive venues. The race weekend, which spans three days of practice, qualifying, and the grand prix itself, is one of the UAE’s largest annual tourism events - and hotels across Abu Dhabi and Dubai fill fast once the schedule is confirmed.
The Yas Marina Circuit
Built on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the 5.28km circuit opened in 2009 and has hosted the F1 season finale every year since. The layout winds through the Yas Marina complex and famously passes under the Yas Hotel via an illuminated bridge. Night races at Yas - under full floodlighting - produce some of the most visually striking television of the Formula 1 calendar and are even more dramatic in person.
The circuit underwent significant reconfiguration in 2021, with several slow chicanes removed and corners reprofiled to increase overtaking opportunities. The revised layout has generally produced more competitive racing than the original track.
The Race Weekend Experience
F1 weekends at Yas Marina are as much entertainment event as sporting occasion. The circuit site includes Yas Waterworld, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, and the Yas Mall, and the race weekend typically incorporates headline music acts performing on circuit stages on Friday and Saturday evenings after track sessions conclude. Grandstand access is included with race tickets; hospitality packages at the marina offer closer access to the pit lane.
The atmosphere in Abu Dhabi for race weekend is relaxed compared to some European rounds. Queues are manageable, alcohol is available within the circuit and at licensed hotels across Yas Island, and the climate in early December - highs around 26°C - is ideal for outdoor events.
Getting to Yas Island
Yas Island sits approximately 30 minutes by road from Abu Dhabi city centre and around 75 minutes from Dubai along the E11 highway. During race weekend, shuttle buses run from both cities and from Abu Dhabi International Airport. Parking on the island fills quickly on race day; arriving by bus or booking accommodation on Yas itself avoids the traffic. Several hotels on the island - including the Yas Hotel and W Abu Dhabi - are positioned within walking distance of the circuit gates.
Booking Accommodation
Race weekend bookings for Abu Dhabi typically open six to eight months in advance and on-island hotels sell out quickly. Abu Dhabi city centre hotels - a 30-minute drive - offer significantly more availability and lower prices. Dubai is a viable base for those who prefer a broader range of hotels and restaurants; the highway connection is straightforward outside peak traffic hours.

If You Cannot Attend
For the millions who follow Formula 1 without attending in person, the Abu Dhabi weekend also marks the end of the season and the announcement of the final constructors’ and drivers’ championship standings. The race is broadcast on Sky Sports F1 in the UK and streaming services across Europe and North America. In the UAE, Du TV and E&’s sports channels carry live coverage.
Formula 1’s official 2026 calendar lists the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as the final round on 4-6 December, with practice on Friday 4th, qualifying on Saturday 5th and the race on Sunday 6th (17:00 local time). It follows Las Vegas (19-21 November) and Qatar (27-29 November) in the closing triple-header.
