The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is Formula 1’s traditional season finale, held at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island since 2009. The race takes place in the early evening so that it starts in daylight and finishes under floodlights — a deliberately cinematic finish to the championship calendar. When title fights go down to the wire, as they did in 2021, the setting adds considerable drama.
The 2026 race weekend runs 27–29 November. Friday is practice day, Saturday brings qualifying, and Sunday is race day. Grandstand tickets are available across multiple zones — the Main Grandstand covers the pit straight, while the Turn 1 and Turn 5 grandstands offer different angles on the circuit layout. Standing zones are also available at a lower price point.
Beyond the racing
The Abu Dhabi GP is as much an entertainment event as a sporting one. Yasalam, the official concert series, takes place on each of the three race evenings in a venue adjacent to the circuit. Concerts are included with a race ticket, and lineups across recent editions have spanned pop, hip-hop, and electronic acts. Gates typically open mid-afternoon; the Yas Island resort complex surrounding the circuit — including Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World — is easily accessible if you arrive early.
Tickets and pricing
General grandstand tickets typically start at approximately USD 280–350 for a three-day pass, with premium zones and VIP hospitality packages running substantially higher. Ticket allocations often sell out months in advance; the official sales portal is at yasmarinacircuit.com. Secondary market prices during race weekend can be two to three times face value.
Getting there
Yas Island sits about 30 km from Abu Dhabi city centre and is connected by a direct Abu Dhabi bus service during race weekend. Taxis from the city centre run approximately AED 70–90 one way; expect surge pricing on race day. Free shuttle buses operate between circuit gates and the Yas island hotels. Driving is possible but parking is limited — public transport is strongly recommended on race day.
Accommodation
Hotels on Yas Island itself — including the W Abu Dhabi, the Yas Viceroy, and Rotana properties — book out early at elevated rates. Abu Dhabi city centre hotels offer better value; budget roughly AED 700–1,500 per night during race weekend for a mid-range option, with prices rising sharply for later bookings.
What to bring
The November evenings on Yas Island can be surprisingly cool once the sun sets, dropping to around 20–22°C. A light jacket for the concert portion of the evening is worth packing. The circuit has bag restrictions; check the official guidelines before arrival. Our Abu Dhabi travel guide has transport and neighbourhood details for the rest of your stay.
